Want to better engage your audience during a meeting, training, or presentation? Try using prescriptive questions! These targeted prompts can help spark thoughtful discussion by providing a starting point. The result is that your audience will start to feel more comfortable speaking up with their own questions.
Examples of prescriptive questions include:

- What are some roadblocks you could envision coming up based on what you’ve heard so far?
- How might you see yourself using/implementing/leveraging this?

To make the most of prescriptive questions, pick moments in your presentation where you need to take a break from "talking at" or you notice people losing focus. These are moments to take a break and ask a prescriptive question.
Incorporating prescriptive questions into your approach can lead to a more engaged audience...any questions? (<-- see what I did there?)
